These pages look at the occupational health and the community health of the Coalfield between the late nineteenth century and the foundation of the National Health Service in 1948. It was funded by a Research Resources in Medical History Award from the Wellcome Trust in 2005, as part of a project to identify medical records in the South Wales Coalfield Collection at Swansea University.
The online catalogue, accessible from this page, was also enhanced to recognize medical records as a result of the project.

These pages list historical records for occupational and community health, predominantly between 1890 and 1948, which are held at the West Glamorgan Archive Service and the Swansea Central Reference Library.
It was compiled by Dr Sara Knight, an honorary lecturer in the School of Health Science at Swansea University, and generously funded by the Barry Amiel and Norman Melburn Trust.
